The scene of a fresh polar bear kill can look terribly gruesome due to the stark contrast of blood on a white, icy landscape. We don’t typically associate blood with good feelings, and seeing a polar bear covered in blood from its latest meal is startling. But it’s important to remember that a blood-stained bear is a well-fed bear. To truly appreciate these beautifully evolved animals is to admire their hunting prowess and ability to thrive within such a harsh environment.
